Inside the northern wall of Sukhothai and close to the gate of the royal
shrine, this ancient temple is well known for its lotus bud-shaped chedi.
There is no mention of the name of this temple in any stone inscriptions.
Wat Son Khao is a name bestowed by local residents. In 1965, excavation and
restoration were undertaken by the Fine Arts Department. Wat Son Khao and Wat Sorasak might have originally been the same temple.
