Because the main chedi with mandapa style top of this temple
has many spires, the local villagers call the temples Wat Chedi Chet Yod, which means “the temple of the 7
spires chedi”. It is one of 15 temples of Si Satchanalai that were built on hills. It is clear that the rocky slopes
were leveled before the main chedi and its associated vihara were constructed directly on the rock.
The main chedi contains 4 small niches, one on each side. Wall paintings
and inscriptions in the Thai alphabet of the Sukhothai period were found in the niches.
